In order for us to prosper as a community we must work together to nurture and educate the future generation. As school districts swiftly transitioned to distance learning this year, the Foundation was quick to meet the need of even our most underprivileged children by raising funds for technology and connectivity at home. On behalf of the Burnet Elementary family, I want to thank the Dallas Education Foundation for being a ray of light in truly dark times. When our school community was devastated by an F3 tornado, DEF provided us $50,000 through a partnership with PNC Bank to help rebuild our school. When the COVID-19 crisis hit, the Foundation again stepped up with $30,000 worth of iPads for our students. Some will remember the 2019-2020 school year for its tragedies and loss. At Burnet, we will remember it for the sense of community, care, and service provided by the Dallas Education Foundation—a lighthouse of hope.

Working with the Dallas Education Foundation has been a fantastic opportunity to not only support DISD students but do so in a way that meets the District’s needs and addresses PNC’s philanthropic mission effectively and efficiently. With DEF becoming completely ingrained in our education and philanthropic communities, the collaboration process in support of improving student outcomes is energizing, innovative and completely rewarding.”

After tornadoes devastated our school last fall, the Dallas Education Foundation provided support we didn’t know was possible — from replacing classroom supplies and athletic equipment to supporting our teachers’ well-being and making our new temporary residence a place we want to be. They have purchased additional security equipment and helped create a wall of canvas photographs that tell our story. We are incredibly grateful.
